A warm, nourishing soup for fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and everyday family meals
There are certain meals that feel especially comforting — the kind you find yourself returning to again and again when your body needs warmth, nourishment, and something simple.
This golden coconut chicken soup is one of those meals.
It’s rich with mineral-dense bone broth, tender shredded chicken, warming spices like turmeric and ginger, and creamy coconut milk. The result is a deeply satisfying soup that feels both grounding and restorative.
I especially love recipes like this during seasons when the body needs extra support. Whether that’s preparing for pregnancy, recovering postpartum, navigating illness, or simply feeding a busy family well.
It’s easy to make, nourishing, and gentle on digestion. All qualities that make it a wonderful staple recipe to keep in your kitchen.

One of the things I love most about this recipe is how the ingredients work together to support the body.
Bone broth provides collagen, gelatin, and important minerals that help support gut health, connective tissues, and postpartum recovery.
Turmeric and ginger bring gentle warmth and natural anti-inflammatory properties while also supporting digestion.
Sweet potatoes and carrots add natural sweetness along with fiber and beta carotene, which plays an important role in immune and skin health.
Coconut milk adds satisfying healthy fats that help keep the soup balanced and sustaining.
And shredded chicken provides easily digestible protein, making this soup filling while still feeling light and comforting.
The result is a bowl of food that truly nourishes from the inside out.
4 Tablespoons (56g) butter
1 large (250g) onion, diced
2 large (255g) carrots, chopped
1 large (240g) sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed
2 teaspoons turmeric
1 teaspoon ginger
1 teaspoon garlic
4 cups (32floz) bone broth (Here’s a link to make your own!)
2 cups (1lb) shredded cooked chicken (yay to using up leftovers!)
2 cups (60g) spinach
1 (13.5oz) can full-fat coconut milk
Celtic Salt, to taste
1. In a large soup pot or Dutch oven, melt the butter over medium heat.
2. Add the diced onion and sauté for about 5–6 minutes until soft and translucent.
3. Add the carrots and sweet potatoes and cook for another 4–5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4. Stir in the turmeric, ginger, and garlic and cook for about one minute until fragrant.
5. Pour in the bone broth and bring the soup to a gentle simmer. Cover and cook for 15–20 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender.
6. Add the shredded chicken and spinach and stir until the spinach wilts.
7. Finally, stir in the coconut milk and allow the soup to warm through for several minutes without boiling.
Season with salt to taste and serve warm.
Simple meals made from whole ingredients can be some of the most supportive foods for the body.
Soups like this one provide hydration, minerals, protein, and nourishing fats in a form that is easy to digest and deeply comforting.
It’s a recipe that works beautifully for postpartum recovery, busy weeknights, or any time your family needs something warm and nourishing.
This soup stores very well and the flavors deepen over time.
Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
It can also be frozen for up to 3 months, making it a wonderful option to prepare ahead for busy weeks or postpartum support.
